Kwame Onwuachi became a household name when he competed in Bravo's Top Chef, Season 13. We saw his return in Top Chef's Last Chance Kitchen in Denver this year.  He didn't win Top Chef but he is a winner at Kith/Kin, located at the tony District Wharf.  

The menu is based on Kwame's memories of family meals.  The food is is a Afro-Caribbean fusion that is warm and inviting to hungry travelers like myself.  Modern in style with wood and glass accents, it is a upscale venue for power lunches for power brokers working in L'efant Plaza.  Kith/Kin is on the first floor of the Intercontinental Hotel, with views, of course, or the wharf.  Fortunately for the restaurant goers, they don't have the Forestal Building blocking their view.

The goat roti is not to be missed.  While the sound of goat may not be appealing to many people, the rich curry takes away thoughts of gaminess.  The whole fried red snapper should not be missed either.  While Caribbean in style, the flavors are also reminiscent ikan bakar. Any Indonesian momma would be happy to eat it.  I was there with one other friend but we also ordered the shrimp, the spicy red lentils, jolly rice, red bean sofrito (how can you not?). 

Sorry there aren't many photos, we were too happy stuffing our faces. That goat roti really was good. 

If you are in the District, it is worth it just to go to the wharf for dinner with your family.  You want lots of people to share otherwise  you will miss out on all the wonderful flavors.
