It’s been a busy week in Japan. Here are a few quick pictures of Tsukiji the morning after the closure of the Inner Market. It’s is quiet compared to the usual morning hustle and bustle. Many shops in the Outer Market are closed to make quick repair and renovations. Fortunately, our favorite chirashi place was open.

We stopped by Namioke Inari Jinja (波除稲荷神社), a Shinto Shrine, to wish the future of the Outer Market. The temple is the unofficial guardian shrine for Tsukiji. The temple has stood there since 1657. The name literally means “protection from the waves.” The temple once stood at the water’s edge of Tokyo.
