Good Time Cafe - Taipei

I love green onion pancakes. It is my guilty pleasure. Crispy. Savory. Why can’t everything be wrapped in flakey goodness?.

Taiwanese style wraps - fried chicken, sweet chili with egg in a green onion wrap. No stringy chicken. All juicy.

At home, I make my own and use them as wraps for my version of a Taiwanese version of a breakfast burrito (green onion wrap, egg scented with yuzu and peppers, and sprouts for crunch). If you don’t have a plancha or what the Americans call a flattop, you are stuck with doing it in a frying pan. That takes a little time just to properly prepare one. My stomach won’t wait that long. FORTUNATELY, the owners of Good Time Coffee & Dine have the same idea.

The cafe is run by a husband and wife team Norman and Ann. They lead hyphenated lives as shopkeep-line-chef-and-tour-guide-Taiwanese-tourists-exploring-the-US. The cafe has seating for ten, split between an elevated outdoor patio and an indoor bar seating. They are right across a city park. A perfectly good place to take a break from work or a place to rest while your kid runs helter-skelter in the park.

Good Time Cafe has a decent size griddle and they serve up green onion wraps fast. Their menu has over a dozen different kinds of wraps - all worth trying and extremely satisfying. They also take care in making a proper espresso that will perk up the overworked or the exhausted parent. Don’t have time to go to their shop to chill? No problem, you can order their stuff through Uber Eats and FoodPanda.
