Taiwan through the eyes of a French artist

One of the great things about traveling the world is that you meet so many interesting people. Recently, I befriended Charlotte Got, a French artist in Taipei. A few years ago, she came to visit a friend in common who launched a French pastry shop and found herself falling in love with Taiwan. When you talk to her, you can feel her passion and desire to discover another culture.

Taiwan is a welcoming place. People travel to Hong Kong and Japan for bright lights, big city, and the food. People come to Taiwan for its people.

I love her drawings. They capture moments in time of all the things I love about Taiwan: from the mix of old and modern architecture, how everyone each day helps out with waste management, forest bathing in Yangmingshan, and so on.

I asked her once what she loved most about Taiwan. She said, “I like the mix of culture that makes Taiwan unique, and the abundance of colors. Every corner would make a beautiful drawing.”

I have to agree.

If you want to see more of Charlotte’s work you can find her on Instagram and Facebook. Here is a select gallery of her drawings here. ENJOY!
